Ron Nevers

Thanks for stopping by. I’m a graphic designer based in the Metro Detroit area. My work has appeared everywhere — online, broadcast, and in print — from billion-dollar companies to small start-ups. 

I’m dedicated to delivering inspiration, insight, and advice to help up-and-coming or experienced graphic designers reach their goals of self-improvement. Because when you succeed, I succeed.

I also love creating logos and brand identities. Every business has a story to tell and an audience that wants to be its fan. My job is to connect the two through design and conceptual thinking.

My Graphic Design Philosophy

Through my experience as an art director, graphic designer, and graphic design instructor, I’ve had a few realizations/revelations on how I approach my life as a designer. I’ve written a blog covering this topic in more detail. Here’s one of my favorite design philosophies.

On Improvement:

You only get better by doing.

Practice. Practice. Practice. Design is not like riding a bike. It’s like a muscle. Your design skills get a little bit stronger every time you design.

Work History

I have over 25 years of experience working in advertising and marketing. I’ve worked as an Art Director and a graphic designer for large and small advertising agencies in the Metro Detroit area. I have experience in print, broadcast, UI/UX, and all types of digital.

Current Work

I currently work at the Rocket Companies as a graphic designer in marketing. I’ve been with the company for over 12 years and have learned and grown so much. ANA Certified Marketing Professional

Association of National Advertisers Certified

Offered as professional and self-growth through Rocket Companies, I am a 2022 Certified Marketing Professional with the Association of National Advertisers (ANA). The certification covers the entire marketing process, from brand strategy and brand activation to marketing implementation across digital and analytic applications. The training gives insight into marketplace drivers and best practices—from strategy to execution to attribution and success metrics.

I’ve also been teaching graphic design for over a decade with Specs Howard (Specs@LTU). My favorite subjects are branding, web development (WordPress), and helping students prepare their portfolios.
